The number of Americans providing unpaid care for family or friends continues to climb. According to a report by the Alliance for Caregiving and AARP, the number of family caregivers in the U.S. has increased from 43-point 5 million in 2015 to 53 million in 2020. K-State Research and Extension is offering an educational program to help caregivers improve their self-care behavior, manage their motions, bolster self-confidence and learn about community resources. Adult development and aging specialist for the Wild West Extension District, Nancy Honig, is a master trainer for the Powerful Tools for Caregivers program.

Sound Living is a weekly public affairs program addressing issues related to families and consumers. It is hosted by Jeff Wichman. Each episode shares the expertise of K-State specialists in fields such as child nutrition, food safety, adult development and aging, youth development, family resource management, physical fitness and more.
