Scammers are using technology to trick Americans out of more money than ever before. In 2022, according to the most recent data from the Federal Trade Commission, reported consumer losses to fraud totaled $8.8 billion – a 30 percent increase from 2021. However, there are steps that can be taken to keep your money and private information safe. K-State Research and Extension family resource management specialist, Elizabeth Kiss, (kish) discusses the common signs of a scam and how to avoid becoming a victim.
