K-State Research and Extension has been involved in a diabetes prevention program through a partnership with the University of Kansas Medical Center. The Prevent T2 pilot program focuses on lifestyle changes. K-State Research and Extension family and community wellness agent for Lyon County, Emily Prouse, who is also a registered dietitian, says Prevent T2 is an educational program for pre-diabetes. She says many of the participants in the Lyon County pilot program became so involved that they wanted to extend the sessions for another six months.
Sound Living is a weekly public affairs program addressing issues related to families and consumers. It is hosted by Jeff Wichman. Each episode shares the expertise of K-State specialists in fields such as child nutrition, food safety, adult development and aging, youth development, family resource management, physical fitness and more.
